The Sidecar. This drink was created near the end of World War I in Paris. Some claim it was the Ritz, others say it was Harry’s Bar. The name comes from an American Army captain who favored the drink, and rode a motorcycle with a side car. I think the French school style, equal portions of Cointreau, cognac, and lemon juice, produces the best mix. Sugar on the rim is required, to balance out the citrus. It also gives the tongue an enjoyable task, should you find yourself in mixed company, where other types of tongue based exercises might be frowned upon. Overall, a perfect holiday drink.
